Grand Prix - Washington D.C.
Results
Grand Prix-Washington DC is over, and Ben Farkas has won, taking
home $2,400. In the Fantasy Pro Tour, nine people had Ben Farkas
on their roster, and he was worth $266.67 in Fantasy Money to each
of them.
Since only sixteen people win money at a North American Grand Prix,
most players on rosters provided no Fantasy Money at all. In addition,
seven players who did win money weren't listed on any Fantasy Pro
Tour roster. As a result, 23 of the 97 teams made no money at all;
when this contest is run based on Pro Tour or Worlds results (where
more players win money), there will presumably be more Rosters in
the black.
The winner of the Fantasy Pro Tour was Brian Bewley, whose prophetically-named
Roster "Team I'm gonna win this thing" contained Ben Farkas, Mark
Le Pine, and Jon Finkel. In addition to Farkas's $266.67, Le Pine
provided $160, and Finkel's winnings of $500, after being split
among the 54 owners that picked him, provided $9.26.
Bewley's team was worth $435.93; he will win a box of any Standard-legal
expansion of his choice.
In addition, a box of Urza's Destiny will be divided among
the second, third, and fourth place finishers.
In second place, Gary Wise's "Gary Wise roster" made $355.56, anchored
by Ben Farkas and Mike Turian (whose $800 was divided among nine
players, provided $88.89 in Fantasy Money to each one).
In third and fourth place, Shawn Keller's "Stingrays and Fairydust"
and Jack Lewis Stanton's "MOA" both had $338.89, with $88.89 from
Mike Turian and $250 from another player. Keller was one of two
people to pick Rob Dougherty (who won $500), and Stanton was of
two people to pick David Williams (who also won $500). Keller is
in third place based on his first-place pick (Dan O'Mahoney Schwartz),
who finished in seventeenth place, as opposed to Stanton's first
pick, Justin Gary, who didn't play in Washington.
The next Fantasy Pro Tour will be based around the APAC Championships.
