The terminology of this contest could be slightly confusing,
since we're talking about a game based on the results of a tournament.
For purposes of this promotion, players will be referred to as "PT
Players", while participants of the Fantasy Pro Tour will be
referred to as "Owners," to keep up the similarity to Fantasy
Baseball (and other Fantasy sports). The list of PT Players that an
Owner selects will be referred to as their "Roster".
For each event, Owners will submit an eight-player roster,
listed from one to eight. This will be the Owner's prediction for
top 8 PT Players in the tournament. Each listed PT Player will be
worth an amount of Fantasy Money equal to that PT Player's earnings
at the event, divided among all Owners that picked that PT Player
for their Rosters. If twenty Owners had Jon Finkel on their roster
for Worlds, and Jon Finkel won $7,000 at Worlds, each of the twenty
Owners that had Finkel on their Roster would receive 350 in Fantasy
Money (7000 divided by 20). This will reward Owners who select high-risk
players (whom other Owner's may not pick) instead of just picking
proven favorites.
Owners may pick any players for their Roster; there
are no restrictions on which players they may choose. Although the
term PT Players is being used, Owners may choose a person who has
never competed at a Pro Tour.
The Owner who earns the most Fantasy Money from their
roster will be the winner for that tournament. Ties will be broken
based on the accuracy of the Owner's predictions. The first PT Player
in each of the Owner's roster will be used to determine the tiebreaker.
The Owner who's first PT Player finished the highest will win the
tiebreaker. In the case of additional ties, the second PT Player on
the Owner's Roster will be used, etc.
Owners may only submit one roster; they may be changed
up until the cutoff date before each event. Typically the cutoff date
will be between approximately 3-7 days before an event begins.
This contest will be run for each Grand Prix, Continental
Championship, Pro Tour and World Championship. Owners choose a Roster
for each event, allowing them to make their decisions based on location
of the event and the competitors who are invited to that event.
Owners will receive prizes after each event. The prize
for a Grand Prix will be one booster box of any Standard-legal expansion
of the Owner's choice. The prize for a Pro Tour will be the Grand
Prix prize plus an uncut cardsheet. The prize for Worlds will be the
Pro Tour prize plus an entire set of Urza's Destiny foil cards.
There will be a special prize for best picks over an entire Pro Tour
Season. Please note that prizes are subject to change without notice
in accordance with product availability. Prizes will be mailed by
Sideboard staff within 2 weeks of completion of each tournament
so please email monty@wizards.com
with your address information to claim a prize you are eligible for.
