Wizards Of The Coast Ceases Publishing Topdeck Magazine
Expanded Gaming Content to Be Available on the Wizard of the Coast Website
Wizards of the Coast Inc., a subsidiary of Hasbro Inc. (HAS:NYSE) and a leading manufacture of game-based entertainment products, has announced that TopDeckTM magazine will no longer be published and will move its content to the Wizard of the Coast® website.
Wizards of the Coast will cease publishing TopDeck magazine this month. The editors for TopDeck magazine will join wizards.com, the Wizards of the Coast website. Game tips, strategies, news and information will be shared on the website on a brand-by-brand basis. Content for the site will be updated as news comes in, providing gamers access to updated trading card game information in a more timely manner. In addition, the company's SideboardTM magazine will provide more Magic: The Gathering® strategy coverage. Sideboard Online (www.wizards.com/sideboard) will continue to give gamers extensive in-depth daily coverage devoted exclusively to the Magic® game.
Johnny Wilson, group publisher for Wizards of the Coast, said, "Through extensive research, we have found that players that become experts in trading card games tend to use Internet sites to obtain most of their information. TopDeck magazine certainly created a new group of experts. These experts will now be able to receive updated and interesting news and features on our website 24 hours a day."
The last scheduled publication of TopDeck magazine will be the February 2001 issue (which is on sale January 2001). TopDeck magazine subscribers will be notified about receiving refund information for their subscriptions. Wizards of the Coast will continue to publish their other magazines, Dungeon® Magazine, Dragon® Magazine, Star Wars® Insider, Star Wars Gamer and Sideboard.
