The Phyrexian Invasion of Dominaria has finally begun. After thousands of years of preparation, the dark god Yawgmoth is ready to return to the world of his birth, destroy it, and then rebuild it according to his own twisted ideals. At his command Dominaria will be flooded with a limitless army of metallic horrors, a huge stockpile of sophisticated weapons and war machines, and a vast array of lethal plague viruses. The planet itself has been marked for death, but Yawgmoth won't even stop there. When every living thing on Dominaria has been killed, rendered down to its component elements, and rebuilt into his loyal slaves, Yawgmoth will use the conquered planet as his new base of operations. From there, he will expand outward to threaten all life in the Multiverse.
Phyrexia's victory on Dominaria is not guaranteed, however. Urza Planeswalker has been preparing for Yawgmoth's return almost as long as the dark god himself. Between Urza's almost limitless magical power and his own considerable skills as a schemer and a builder, the planeswalker has launched a complicated counter-strategy and assembled his own global army of magical monsters and human nations. Gerrard and the crew of the flying ship Weatherlight also stand ready to resist the forces of Phyrexia, unaware of the role that Urza has already planned for them to play in his larger strategy.
The combatants are all assembled, and the waiting is over. If Dominaria does not focus on the monolithic threat posed by the Phyrexian horde, then the planet and all of its diverse, myriad life forms will simply cease to exist.
