Magic Weekend delivered unforgettable storylines here in Paris. Ben Stark and his Caw-Go deck defeated Paul Rietzl and Boros 3-1 in the finals of the Pro Tour. Rietzl, who was playing simultaneously in the Top 8 and Day Two of the Grand Prix for most of the day, fell just short of writing a storybook finish to the weekend.

Stark's victory had been an accomplishment the American player had been chasing for a long time. He defeated Tom Martell 3-2 in the quarterfinals in a Caw-Go mirror match and then bested Naoki Nakada and his different take on Caw-Go in the semifinals to set up the dramatic final against Rietzl.

In Saturday's Player of the Year Showdown, the weight finally came off Brad Nelson 's shoulders. He defeated Guillaume Matignon 4-2 in the epic Player of the Year Showdown behind powerful planeswalkers in Standard and an infect-heavy Super Sealed Deck, winning two games in each format.
