StarCityGames.com writer Sean McKeown tackles his readers' Commander decks each week, proposing tweaks and modifications to fit their requests. In his most recent article, he goes over a Rubinia Soulsinger Commander deck, narrowing its focus and trying out some new cards.
Rubinia is a popular green-white-blue commander, and Sean takes this deck down a more controlling path. Wanting to achieve maximum potential from Rubinia's ability, he adds cards like Miren, the Moaning Well and Animal Boneyard. Thanks to the Commander rules, it's difficult for any creature to remain safe as this deck can cast Rubinia over and over again!
To compliment Rubinia, the deck has a stealing mini-theme as well. Beguiler of Wills, Evangelize, and even Preacher fit squarely into the deck, providing the Rubinia-centric cards with even more to do!
While Rubinia is busy dealing with opponents' creatures, the deck packs plenty of large creatures that can administer the beatdown on their own! Praetors and the always-popular Primeval Titan lead the charge on the opponent's life total, while plenty of cheap creatures like Yavimaya Elder and Trinket Mage provide a small advantage and get in some plinks here and there.
