've been getting a lot of reader submissions and requests about building a Standard deck that combines Possibility Storm and Curse of Exhaustion to lock the opponent out of casting spells. Today, I'm going to look at a reader submission based around that combo.
This deck was submitted by Zev Chasan, and I like it because it uses Possibility Storm to set up the combo—with enough cheap enchantments, you can cast several the turn after you play Possibility Storm to try to find a Curse of Exhaustion—and because it simply embraces the randomness rather than trying to build to minimize it, like some lists do. I mean, really, if you're going to build a deck around Possibility Storm, you might as well at least have fun with it.
The deck was presented without a sideboard, and there are a few changes I would suggest for it. Zev sent in the following:
Zev Chasan's Possibility Storm
I would like Abundant Growth as a cheap enchantment that plays well with Sphere of Safety, and I don't see any reason to play Chromatic Lantern over Verdant Haven. This deck's only win condition is Blind Obedience, and I think I kind of like that approach in the main deck, especially since extort has the cute interaction with Possibility Storm that you can do it twice when you cast something.
I've also swapped Runner's Bane for more Agoraphobias because I think it's a better card.
Zev and Sam's Possible Exhaustion
