ith the Return to Ravnica Prerelease just around the corner, Magic players everywhere are busy scraping together deck ideas and wants/needs lists in anticipation of the newest Magic expansion. As soon as the Card Image Gallery went up, some brave Commanders started brewing with the new set for the hundred-card format. While it might be Selesyna Week next week, this week anything goes. So I decided to dedicate today's deck to one of my favorite cards from Return to Ravnica: Rakdos, Lord of Riots.
Rakdos, Lord of Riots is one of my favorite cards because it reminds me of Abyssal Persecutor, which is also one of my favorites. Rakdos is such an efficiently costed card that if you can make his "drawback" not of your concern, he suddenly brings all kinds of powerful Rakdosery down on all of your opponents. Once you are able to connect with your giant, flying, trampling, commander, all the rest of your deck turns into full-on crazy mode.
Cassidy McAuliffe is up to his usual tricks over at StarCityGames.com and jumped on the new set by featuring an entire revamp using Rakdos, Lord of Riots as his commander. The deck features all of the cool things we have come to expect out of red and black. Removal to the brim in just about every variety. Huge fancy finishers that come with all kinds of value attached. Draw spells. Drain Lifes. Direct damage. It's all here, and Rakdos is sending it all into battle. Go check out the article for a full breakdown on the thought process behind the build!
