Campaign League Archive

Each Chainmail League season consists of six weeks. Die-hard campaigners will find plenty of action every week, while more time-constrained types have the opportunity to prove themselves in one-day DCI tournaments. Ask for specific dates at your local League store.

Season 7
Season play started 8/24/02 (now concluded)

Scenarios: Rapid Pincer, Rapid Strike, and Special (Take the Hall)
Board Size: 2 feet by 3 feet
Skirmish Location: Underground
Warband Size: 140 points

Prizes: Swiftwing Disciple door prizes, Dwarf Thunderlasher #2 alternate pose models, pewter Champion Player bases

Rules: This season, all warbands must follow the faction rules, and a player's warband may change during the season as described for Season 3. Also, players who wish to change their warband must do so before they know who they’re playing, as described for Season 4. During the League part of a season, players can play any opponent, with the restrictions described in Season 5. For other important rules, see the Chainmail comprehensive rulebook.

"Take the Hall" Scenario Specifics: Deployment Area: Standard; Victory Condition: Capture the Hall of Good or Evil; Special: Additional terrain: Hall of Good or Hall of Evil

Victory is possible on the fourth and subsequent rounds. Starting on the fourth round, the winner is the only player to have a model or models touching the specified terrain piece at both the beginning and the end of the round. It doesn’t have to be the same model at the start of the round as at the end of the round. Enemy models that touched the terrain piece during the round, but move away or are eliminated before the end of the round, do not prevent victory.

Your constrained models do not count toward your victory, but enemy constrained models do prevent your victory. To win, you need a model that’s not constrained to be at the terrain piece at both the beginning and end of a round, and no enemy models can be at the terrain piece, constrained or not.

Season 6
Season play started 7/13/02 (now concluded)

Scenarios: Kill the Leader, Rapid Strike, and Special (Cave of Pain)
Board Size: 2 feet by 3 feet
Skirmish Location: Underground
Warband Size: 100 points

Prizes: Orc Druid door prizes, Gray Elf Snakestrike Duelist #2 alternate pose models, pewter Champion Player bases

"Cave of Pain" Scenario Specifics: Deployment Area: Standard; Victory Condition: Eliminate the enemy; Special: Always gloom: +1 damage.

Always Gloom: The lighting condition is always gloom, and not even a good scouting check can change it to normal light.

+1 Damage: Every time a model takes damage, it takes an additional 1 magic damage. This applies to all sources of damage: weapons, special abilities, spells, terrain effects, and so on. If an attack deals two types of damage (such as 1 + 1 fire), that still only counts as dealing damage once. The target takes the additional 1 magic damage once, not twice. If a special ability or spell prevents all the original damage (as Skeletal, Damage Reduction [#], or Spell Resistance [#] might), then the target does not take additional damage.

Season 5
Season play started 5/25/02 (now concluded)

Scenarios: Kill the Leader, Rapid Strike, and Special (Hold the Skull)
Board Size: 3 feet by 3 feet
Skirmish Location: Above ground
Warband Size: 100 points

Prizes: Elf Scout door prizes, Human Death Cleric variant models, pewter Champion Player bases

Rules: This season, all warbands must follow the faction rules, and a player's warband may change during the season as described for Season 3. Also, players who wish to change their warband must do so before they know who they’re playing, as described for Season 4. During the League part of a season, players can play any opponent, with the following restrictions: (1) A player cannot play an opponent consecutively; he or she must play someone else before playing the same opponent again; and (2) A player cannot play against another player who is three or more titles below or above him or her; if this leaves the player with no opponents, a player instead cannot play against another player who is ranked (through score) more than three players above or below him or her, regardless of title.

"Hold the Skull" Scenario Specifics: Deployment Area: Standard; Victory Condition: Capture dragon skull; Scenario Goal: dragon; Additional Terrain: dragon skull (1).

Victory is possible on the fourth and subsequent rounds. Starting on the fourth round, the winner is the only player to have a model or models touching the clear area of the dragon skull terrain piece at both the beginning and the end of the round. It doesn’t have to be the same model at the start of the round as at the end of the round. Enemy models that touched the skull terrain during the round, but move away or are knocked down or eliminated before the end of the round, do not prevent victory.

A constrained model does not count toward victory, but an enemy constrained model does prevent victory. To win, the model at the start of the round and at the end of the round must not be constrained, and at neither time can there be an enemy model touching the skull terrain (constrained or not).

Season 4
Season play started 4/13/02 (now concluded)

Scenarios: Kill the Leader, Capture and Hold, and Standard Skirmish
Board Size: 3 feet by 3 feet
Skirmish Location: Above ground
Warband Size: 70 points

Prizes: Goblin Trooper door prizes, a Drow Warrior variant model, pewter Champion Player bases

Rules: This season, all warbands must follow the faction rules and a player's warband may change during the season as described for Season 3. In addition, players who wish to change their warband must do so before they know who they are playing. For example, you can’t wait to see you are playing Bill, and then change your warband to beat him. If they choose, League organizers may stipulate that players may change warbands only in between League days and not during League days.

Season 3
Season play started 3/2/02 (now concluded)

Models: Set 2
Scenarios: Standard Skirmish, Pincer Move, and Divine Blood (Semi Dark)
Board Size: 2 feet by 4 feet
Skirmish Location: Underground
Warband Size: 70 points
Prizes: Alternate pose Human Marine, pewter Champion Player bases
Rules: This season, all warbands must follow the faction rules, and players must declare their factions on their scoresheets. Each player's warband must remain consistent with the appropriate faction's rules. A player's warband may now change during the season. In Season 3 a player may change faction but must then lose 5 League points. Players who change faction must write "changed faction" in the "opponent's name" space and then subtract 5 points to calculate their current score.

Season 2
Season play started 1/19/02 (now concluded)

Models: Set 2
Scenarios: Standard Skirmish, Pincer Move, and Kill the Leader
Board Size: 4 feet by 4 feet
Skirmish Location: Above ground
