Set 3: Orc
By Bruce R. Cordell and Rob Heinsoo
It Rocks: Hes the Orc who breaks the rules for how the Horde
usually fights. Instead of being fast, hes got high armor. Instead
of being difficult to control, hes a troop wholl follow orders.
Tricks and Tactics:
If youre going to play just one Orc Champion, he makes a great bodyguard
for your leader. If you opt to play multiple Orc Champions, youll
have the most disciplined force Drazens Horde can field. Youll
probably even have the command to take advantage of the Orc Champions
one-shot ranged attacks. The Champions arent Fearless, but unlike
faster Orcs that run off the table when they fail a morale save, a routing
Orc Champion likely will stay on the table.
the Orc Champion is slower than other unarmored Orcs, its still
quicker than Dwarves. If youre not going to take advantage of the
Hobgoblin Adepts 4 command points and bulls strength
spell, team up the Orc Champion with the Hobgoblin Fighter for a medium-speed
warband that has a chance of beating the Dwarves of Mordengard at their
own melee game.
Enemies Who Hate
to See It: No one seems particularly scared of the Orc Champion until
it has carried the battle against them multiple times using multiple tactics.
Its just a solid all-around fighter.
