Chainmail Set 2: Spitting Felldrake
By Bruce R. Cordell and Rob Heinsoo
Model: Spitting Felldrake
Why It Rocks: Like its big cousins, the dragons, the Spitting Felldrake hawks nasty gobs of acid.
Tricks and Tactics: Ravilla enjoys a wonderful ability to attack its enemies at range, and the Spitting Felldrake doesnt let the warband down -- it can spit its acid in a range of 6". The great thing about this model is that its not a one-trick dragon. If an enemy closes on it, the Spitting Felldrake has a decent melee attack for its unit cost.
Put one or two Spitting Felldrakes into your Ravilla army. Run them out ahead of your archers, using them as shields to slow down melee troops attempting to close with your archers. The dragon has 4 health, so it can take a round or two of strikes even from heavy-hitters that deal 2 damage against it (assuming it successfully makes its morale save). Ideally, the Spitting Felldrake can get off acid blobs at range before enemy models close on it, but really, its happy either way. Even though the Spitting Felldrake doesnt have the Precise Shot ability, its acid spittle is a ranged touch attack; it can still clock enemy models with acid on a 15 instead of 11 when they are already engaged with any of your other troops.
