The Wizards of the
Coast Publishing Group is pleased to announce that the fantasy setting
written by Keith Baker of Boulder, CO has been chosen to become the next
campaign setting for Wizards of the Coast.
Keith
picked up his first Dungeons & Dragons book when he was seven
years old and has been playing and designing games of all types ever since
then. After receiving a degree in English and creative writing from Bates
College he spent a few years in the computer industry, only to quit in
April 2002 to become a full-time freelance game designer. He has contributed
to a variety of Over the Edge and d20 compilations from Atlas Games,
and his solo credits include The Ebon Mirror (Atlas Games) and
The Complete Guide to Doppelgangers (Goodman Games). Keith grew
up in Ithaca, New York, and he now lives in Boulder, Colorado, with his
lovely wife Ellen, two crazy cats, and a very bossy cow.
Keith's
setting was culled from the nearly 11,000 entries that were received after
the company announced an open search in June 2002. The incredible response
to the search announcement is testimony to the vitality and creativity
of the gaming community.
All three
finalists in the search -- Keith Baker, Rich Burlew, and Nathan Toomey
-- developed richly detailed 100-page setting bibles for their proposed
worlds. Wizards would like to extend congratulations and thanks to all
three finalists for their hard work and creativity throughout the process.
More
information about the setting will be made available this summer.
