You’ve got questions—we’ve got answers! Here’s how it works—each week, our Community Manager will be scouring all available sources to find whatever questions you’re asking. We’ll pick three of them to answer, whether about the about the making of the game, the technical workings of our DDI studio, or anything else you care to know about… with some caveats.
There are certain business and legal questions we can’t answer (for business and legal reasons). And if you have a specific rules question, we’d rather point you to Customer Service, where representatives are ready and waiting to help guide you through the rules of the game. That said, our goal is provide you with as much information we can—in this and other venues.
This week, we tackle a few questions regarding rules updates.
When are we going to see more rules updates?
We have a new schedule for rules updates. There will be two basic forms for it.
First, on the last weekday of each month, we will release rules updates that correct simple mistakes. These updates will, in general, touch upon topics that don’t require direct development.
In addition, twice per year we will tackle more substantial issues that require direct developer input. Those updates will be released in June and December.
Our rules updates have been a little behind schedule because we diverted that time and energy to review five Player’s Handbook classes for the Class Compendium: Heroes of Sword and Spell. That book was been removed from the print schedule. However, the updates to those versions of the warlord, fighter, cleric, rogue, and wizard will appear in Dragon on a monthly basis starting in March (in the listed order).
Will there be any update to the original warlock class features of Warlock’s Curse and various powers (similar to the rogue’s Sneak Attack and the wizard’s spells received in Heroes of the Fallen Lands)?
The warlock from Player’s Handbook will receive the same update treatment as the five classes mentioned above—which will include ensuring that the warlock’s class features and powers inflict enough damage. Expect this update treatment to appear in Dragon, with a target date of June. (We might need to push that date back, as we’ve just kicked off the project, but that is our target date.)
When are you going to update power strike?
The update to power strike will appear in our first monthly rules update at the end of March. We’ll also tackle similar free action powers that cause issues with the limit on free action attack powers.
How can I submit a question to the Rule-of-Three?
Instead of a single venue to submit questions, our Community Manager Trevor Kidd will be selecting questions from our message boards, Twitter feed, and Facebook account. You can also submit questions directly to email@example.com. So, if you’d like to have your question answered in the Rule-of-Three, just continue to participate in our online community—and we may select yours!
And now, a final question for you. In the latest In the Works column, we showcased five images from the forthcoming Monster Vault: Threats to the Nentir Vale. Which of these monsters would you like to see previewed in the next In the Works?
