From Penny Arcade

This seemed too good of an idea not to share—visitors to Penny Arcade have no doubt heard tales from Gabe's (that is, Mike Krahulik's) ongoing D&D campaign. In one of his recent games, he employed the following elaborate—and rather ingenious—system of lights and mirrors to add challenging new elements to his dungeon. And if that weren't mad enough, take a look at his freefall encounter!

Once more around the table! The folks at Penny Arcade, PvP, and Wil Wheaton sit down with Wizards of the Coast for a session of 4th Edition D&D. Warning: This podcast contains strong language.

The Group

  • Mike Krahulik (Gabe from Penny Arcade): Jim Darkmagic of the
    New Hampshire Darkmagics
  • Jerry Holkins (Tycho from Penny Arcade): Omin Dran, CEO of Acquisitions Inc.
  • Scott Kurtz (from PvP): Binwin Bronzebottom
  • Wil Wheaton : Aeofel Elhromane ("Al")
  • Chris Perkins (R&D): Your humble Dungeon Master

"At least you're not in the acid pit…."

Here we go, folks. Traps are sprung throughout the climax of the adventure. Aeofel lies melting away in an acid pit ("How do you feel about the Raven Queen?"), and while they do find the magic coat, that's certainly trapped (and that trap certainly sprung) as well. And then there's that bearskin rug…. Remembrances of the Tome of Horrors comes to mind.

"You changed your name to Vanguard Crackhammer?"
