Playtest Group of the Month

Playtesters at Work

The Colasante Collective has really worked over the rules. Players had their characters attack other players' characters at random, and the DM killed off a few groups while he learned the Challenge Rating system. Once they settled into a game, their observations became more pointed.

Drow as a PC race. Nice (and necessary) touch. Since the drow have always featured prominently in the Realms, it's good to finally see them get their due. Although elven, they are as sufficiently different as half-elves and deserve similar treatment, and although many of them are vilely evil, they aren't really monsters.

Expansions to monks and paladins multiclassing. This is more for clarification, we like the option. Playtest effect: This has been clarified.

Realms spells. I wouldn't be upset if the spells of Mordenkainen, Otiluke, Bigby and the other Greyhawk big-dogs were unavailable or rare in the Realms.

Stirges and shadow panthers. These creatures rule. Plain and simple. Stirges used to be kind of weak, but now we screamed when a second wave of them came after us. The shadow panther ran rings around the party, but they liked it.
