Playtest
Group of the Month
(June)

by
Chris Perkins, Dungeon Magazine editor
We
asked 3rd Edition D&D playtester
and Dungeon Magazine contributor Peter
Vinogradov to tell us about his group of playtesters
and how they impacted the design of an adventure he
is writing for the magazine. Peter discusses the evolution
of the adventure and shares some of his groups
insights into 3rd Edition D&D.
Peters first adventure for the new edition, "Armistice,"
will appear in an upcoming issue of Dungeon Magazine.
In the meantime, he is putting the finishing touches
on his latest 3rd Edition D&D
project, "Tealpecks Flood."

Our Thoughts on 3rd Edition
D&D
by
Peter Vinogradov
I
am thrilled about the new rules for multi-classing in
3rd Edition, since I love to play "warrior-wizard"
types. I am also glad to see some of the old classes
regain some of the distinctiveness (druids, rangers,
etc.) they lost in the 2nd Edition, and I
look forward to trying the new monk some day. I also
really enjoy using the six-second round and the host
of new combat procedures, which, in my opinion, accomplish
the extraordinary task of adding to realism while speeding
up play.

Quote
of the Week:

"My favorite
quote from the playtest was Jonathan's, when the party first noticed the hooks
at the bottom of their boats: "These hooks -- they might be useful for something.
We'd best leave them in place"
