June 2004 DCI Banned and Restricted List Announcement—Star Wars TCG



Announcement Date: June 1, 2004
Effective Date: June 20, 2004

Constructed

  • Players may not use banned cards in a DCI-sanctioned constructed tournament.
  • Players can use only one copy of a restricted card in a DCI-sanctioned constructed tournament.

Here is an explanation of the changes from Star Wars R&D:

Holoprojection Chamber
This Location makes the "Mission" deck too easy. It is the center of the Mission-fueled engines that lead to large 1st turn build disparities.

Kessel System
Similar to Holoprojection Chamber, this Location can easily lead to a huge first turn build disparity that is unhealthy for the game.

Falcon's Needs
This undercosted Mission, while powerful in and of itself, becomes degenerate when the 2nd (or 3rd, or 4th) copy is played.

Lull in the Fighting, Peace on Naboo, Lost in the Asteroids
These 3 undercosted battle cards allow any player to stall the game for an unacceptable length of time. There are other fairly costed cards that have the same effect, with more coming in the future.
