Dark Side Adepts are those who use the Force for evil ends. Most Dark Jedi began as Jedi Knights until corrupted by their lust for power, forbidden knowledge, or their own uncontrollable rage.
Although exact events are unclear, the first Dark Jedi came into existence several thousand years before the Galactic Civil War. These Dark Jedi tried to take control of the Old Republic, but were driven away by Jedi Knights; they then wandered unexplored regions of the galaxy until discovering the humanoid Sith. The Dark Jedi subjugated these people, and have been known ever since as the "Lords of the Sith".
When two hyperspace explorers stumbled upon the Sith Empire, they unwittingly led the Sith Lords back to the Old Republic, resulting in the Hyperspace Wars. Yet the Old Republic, bolstered by the Jedi Knights, routed the Sith; the Sith Empire was crushed, and most of the Sith Lords perished. Most, but not all…
During the Clone Wars, Dark Jedi again resurfaced. As Emperor Palpatine rose to prominence, he mastered several dark powers -- and converted a young Jedi named Anakin Skywalker to the dark side of the Force.
The Dark Side Adept boasts similar cost and stats to Clone Strike's Dark Side Acolyte. Yet while the Acolyte focuses on melee combat (with Melee and Double Attack abilities), the Adept is able to participate in both melee and ranged combat.
