Execute Order 66

A Star Wars Miniatures Revenge of the Sith Scenario

"Execute Order 66." With that single command, clone troopers across the galaxy coldly cut down their former Jedi leaders.

While the deaths of many of the most powerful Jedi appeared in Revenge of the Sith, certainly the scene was repeated off-screen many times over. This scenario for the Star Wars Miniatures Gamegives parameters for setting up your own Jedi versus clone skirmishes. As with the Execute Order 66 scenes in the movie, these ambushes are quick and finish in only a few short rounds.

Think you can do better than the Jedi in the film?

There are two ways to play. You can use the mission as written below, or you can choose your own maps, Jedi, and clones from the Revenge of the Sith set or the Clone Strike set (or mix and match). See the alternate rules at the end of the mission for creating your own ambushes. The different Force powers can produce very different battles.

This scenario does not recreate any scene directly from the movie. Those missions appear in the Ultimate Missions: Revenge of the Sith book. Since there are only a limited number of Jedi minis, however, use those available to represent other Jedi. Pick your own Jedi name, if you like.

Use the map board from the Revenge of the Sith Starter Set, setting up as indicated below. At the start of this mission, a single Jedi Master is leading his clone troops through a damaged Separatist starship, unaware of the imminent danger behind him...

Jedi Setup

The Jedi force consists of Mace Windu, Jedi Master, totaling 65 points. If the Jedi player chooses not to use this figure, see below for alternate setups.

The Jedi sets up in the indicated area in the passageway.

Area A: Mace Windu, Jedi Master

Mace Windu, Jedi Master 65
Total 65

Jedi Victory Conditions

The Jedi player wins by achieving the following goal:

Defeat the Clones: With battle droids scattered throughout the ship, the only escape is to defeat all of the clones.

Clone Setup

The Clone Trooper force consists of a Clone Trooper Commander and Clone Troopers, totaling 67 points. If the Clone Trooper player chooses not to use the forces suggested below, he may build his own force totaling up to 67 points. However, the force is restricted to using Clone Troopers of any type, only one of which may have commander effects.

The Clones set up in Area B with the Clone Trooper Commander in the leading square:

Area B: Clone Trooper Commander and Clone Troopers

1 Clone Trooper Commander 13
6 Clone Trooper 54
Total 67

Clone Trooper Victory Conditions

The Clone Trooper player wins by achieving the following goal:

Defeat the Jedi: The Clone Trooper player wins by defeating the Jedi.

Special Scenario Rules

Executing Order 66: The ambushing Clone Troopers automatically win initiative for the first round.

Alternate Setups

Don't have Mace Windu, Jedi Master, or just want to try out other Jedi and Clone combinations? Here are the rules:

1. Player 1, pick a Jedi. Masters work the best, but you can try a Jedi Knight or Guardian, if you like.

2. Player 2, pick one Clone Trooper Commander, then use Clone Troopers of any type to meet or slightly exceed the point total of the selected Jedi (just use Clone Troopers if you don't have a Commander unit). If Player 2 cannot exactly equal Player 1's point total, Player 2 may use one additional Clone Trooper to make up the difference. Using the scenario above as an example: Mace Windu, Jedi Master equals 65 points. The Clone Trooper Commander and five Clone Troopers equal 58 points. One additional Clone Trooper brings the total up to 67 points, slightly exceeding the Jedi total.

3. Player 1, you are the commander leading your troops to the next battlefield. Pick any available map and up to four terrain tiles (if you have any). Arrange them however you like.

4. Player 2, select the starting locations for both the Clones and the Jedi. After all, it's your ambush, so you get to choose where it happens (to a point). All Clones must start no more than one square apart from each other, with the Clone Trooper Commander in the lead between the Troopers and the Jedi. No Trooper may be closer to the Jedi than the Commander. The Jedi must be within seven squares and have line of sight to the Commander.

5. Begin play. The Victory Conditions and Special Scenario Rules above are still in force with one exception: If Player 1 is using any version of Yoda, he automatically wins initiative.

For ease of play, here are combinations of Jedi and Clones using the Revenge of the Sith set. Using the Clone Strike set produces many more variations.

  • Agen Kolar, Jedi Master versus one Clone Trooper Commander and three Clone Troopers
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Master versus one Clone Trooper Commander and four Clone Troopers
  • Shaak Ti versus one Trooper Commander and two Clone Troopers
  • Stass Allie versus one Clone Trooper Commander and one Clone Trooper
  • Yoda, Jedi Master versus one Clone Trooper Commander and six Clone Troopers
  • Master and Apprentice: Use the same rules as above, except Player 1 selects one Jedi Master and one Jedi Knight or Jedi Guardian. The Clone force equals or exceeds the point total of the two Jedi, as above.

    Upcoming Scenarios

Your Jedi survived? Excellent. Lord Vader will deal with them in the upcoming scenario, "Vader's Pursuit."
