Unfinished Business, Part 3: Shafted!

A New Star Wars Miniatures Scenario

Did You Play Parts 1 and 2?
If the gunrunners won part 1 or part 2 of the "Unfinished Business" trilogy, they remain free and decide to take the battle to their enemies in this conclusion.

If the bounty hunters won part 1 and part 2, they captured the gunrunners and have already won the series. However, you can still play part 3 as a stand-alone scenario.

Having defeated or shaken off his pursuers, notorious gunrunner Praaelon Di is tired of being harassed by Administrator Lenc, and he plans to end it once and for all. With a few associates, a little Rebel help, and a huge battle droid, Praaelon visits Lenc on the obscure mining world of Weldii III.

Praaelon's attack comes at the top of Mine Shaft 342, where Lenc -- with his chief miners, operators, and bodyguards -- is in a bunker, supervising repairs to the mine. He is cornered and outnumbered. While Lenc can depend on his staff and a large mining droid to defend him, the miners are another story. Still smarting from Lenc's brutal response to their rebellion, some of them have caught wind of Praaelon's attack and intend to take a little revenge of their own within the mine itself.

Administrator Lenc might have one other ally. If Boushh hasn't been defeated yet (because part 2 of the series was skipped), he's also in the bunker at the top of the mine shaft, eager to claim at least a part of the bounty on Praaelon.

"Shafted!" is part 3 of the "Unfinished Business" series. The scenario uses the Endor Bunker and Rancor Pit maps from the Attack on Endor Scenario Pack, along with minis from the Bounty Hunters, Champions of the Force, and Rebel Storm sets. However, you can also build your own squads as desired.

Light Side Setup

The gunrunner's squad totals 149 points, as detailed below. The gunrunner's player can build a different squad instead, but it must total a maximum of 151 points and use miniatures from the Fringe, Rebel, and CIS factions only. The squad must also follow these rules:

  • Fringe: One mini from this faction must be designated as Praaelon.
  • Rebel: Only two minis from this faction are allowed. Both must be Medium, and neither can be Unique.
  • CIS: Only one mini from this faction is allowed. It must be a Huge battle-type droid that is not Unique.
  • Miners: Five minis must be designated as miners and use the same stats as Tusken Raiders (see Special Scenario Rules, below).
  • The Light Side sets up in Area A on the Endor Bunker map, except for the miners, who set up in Area B on the Rancor Pit map.

    FRINGE
    Boshek (Praaelon) Bounty Hunters 11
3 Corellian Pirates Bounty Hunters 30
    Defel Spy Bounty Hunters 14
5 Tusken Raiders (Miners) Rebel Storm 20
Ugnaught Demolitionist Champions of the Force 3
    REBEL
    Rebel Captain Bounty Hunters 21
Rebel Heavy Trooper Bounty Hunters 11
    CIS
Huge Crab Droid Bounty Hunters 39
    TOTAL 149

    Light Side Victory Conditions

The gunrunners win if Administrator Lenc and his entire team are defeated.

    Dark Side Setup

Administrator Lenc and his underlings total 131 points, as detailed below. The Dark Side player can build a different squad instead, but it must total a maximum of 131 points and use minis from the Fringe and CIS factions only. If Boushh is still available, add him to the squad and raise its point total to 151. The squad must also follow these rules:

  • Unique: Only one Unique character can be used, and it must be Boushh (or a replacement if Boushh is not available).
  • CIS: Only one mini from this faction is allowed. It must be a Huge battle-type droid.
  • Medium: Other than the Huge battle droid, all characters must be Medium.
  • The Dark Side player sets up Lenc and his underlings anywhere in Areas C or D of the Endor Bunker map. The mining droid, one Mustafarian Soldier, and the Aqualish Assassin start in Area E on the Rancor Pit map.

    FRINGE
    Aqualish Assassin Bounty Hunters 7
Bith Black Sun Vigo (Lenc) Bounty Hunters 20
    3 Human Blasters-For-Hire Bounty Hunters 15
    Klatooinian Hunter Bounty Hunters 11
2 Mustafarian Soldiers Bounty Hunters 24
Rodian Hunt Master Bounty Hunters 22
    CIS
Commerce Guild Homing Spider Droid (mining droid) Bounty Hunters 32
    TOTAL 131
    SPECIAL
    Boushh Bounty Hunters 20

    Dark Side Victory Conditions

Administrator Lenc wins if all opposing characters are defeated.

    Special Scenario Rules

A Relentless Hunter: If Part 2 was skipped, Boushh is available to defend the Administrator in exchange for part of the bounty on Praaelon. Boushh starts in Area C. Boushh may use his Bounty Hunter ability against Praaelon.

Miners: The miners use the same stats as Tusken Raiders:
Cost 4, HP 10, Defense 13, Attack +5, Damage 10, Melee Attack, Mighty Swing.

Bunker Door: The exterior bunker blast door operates normally for Lenc and his underlings. The gunrunners must blow the door open either by using the Ugnaught Demolitionist's special ability or by dealing 150 points of damage to the door (Defense 15).

Mine Lifts: An automatic system connects the bunker lift to two stations on the Rancor Pit map. Unlike the turbolifts in the previous scenario, the mine lifts move automatically. Any character in a lift at the end of a round is going for a ride, whether he want to or not.

In any given round, a lift is available at two of the three stations -- typically, one at the Bunker, and one in either station A or station B in the Rancor Pit. When the scenario begins, the lifts are at the Bunker and station A. (In the Rancor Pit, stations A and B are in the six squares closest to the doors within beast pens A and B. Treat the remaining four squares at the back of the pens as solid walls. Treat the printed lift on the Rancor Pit map as a normal room. See the map above.)

To use a lift, a character must be completely within the lift. At the end of the round, the lift from the Bunker automatically moves to station B in the Rancor Pit, while the other lift moves to the Bunker. This process is reversed each round. In other words, at the end of round 2, the lift from the Bunker moves to station A in the Rancor Pit, while the other lift moves to the Bunker. The lifts continue to move back and forth in this manner throughout the scenario.

Characters that start the round in a lift may move normally.

Lift doors operate as normal doors. Therefore, if any character is adjacent to a lift door at the beginning of a round, the door is open. However, characters need not move away from the door to close it for lift movement.

The lift doors are on the same side of the lift at each level. Players might find it useful to turn the maps so the doors on each one face the same direction.

If no lift is available, the lift doors at that location won't open (unless they have been destroyed; see below).

The mine lift doors are much more primitive than turbolift doors used in part 2 of this scenario. Even if the Ugnaught Demolitionist destroys a lift door, the lifts continue to operate. When a lift door is destroyed and no lift is present, treat the shaft as a pit.

The only way to prevent a lift from moving is for a Large or Huge character to stand in the door at the end of a round. When a lift door is blocked in this manner, the safety systems kick in, and the lift remains where it is.

  • If the stuck lift is at the Bunker, all lifts remain in their current location.
  • If the stuck lift is at station A or B in the Rancor Pit, the Bunker lift moves to the empty station, leaving the Bunker level empty.
  • This changes the established pattern of movement, so consider using counters to keep track of the locations of the lifts in each round.

    "Unfinished Business" Is . . . Finished

Part 3 is the conclusion of the "Unfinished Business" series. If the gunrunners won either part 1 or part 2, they have a chance of winning part 3 and thus winning the series. If the bounty hunters won both part 1 and part 2, they have already won the series.
