Youngling

Youngling is a sentient species-neutral term to refer to the very young; much like “child” is used to refer to a very young human. Among Jedi, the term was also commonly used to refer to the very young initiates to the Jedi order, before they were old enough to be taken on by a Jedi Knight as a Padawan learner, or placed in the Jedi Service Corps at the age of puberty.
