Star Wars Miniatures Strategy Showcase 7

Got Force? No Problem!

Welcome to the Star Wars Miniatures Strategy Showcase (S3). One of the best ways to become a better player in a strategy game is to practice and analyze different game situations. In each installment of this series, we'll offer a situation for you to analyze. What overall strategy or specific tactics should each side employ to achieve victory?

Dynamic Duo is a fan-created format for Star Wars Miniatures. Players may use normal faction building rules with exactly two characters whose point totals add up to exactly 100 points. Players activate only one character per phase. Luke Skywalker and Yoda with Chewbacca, Rebel Hero has been a dominant squad, but there are always contenders at tournaments vying for the title of best duo. In this puzzle, we examine the challenges that Warmaster Tsavong Lah and Aurra Sing bring to the table.

Squad 1

All characters are at full Hit Points unless noted otherwise.

Warmaster Tsavong Lah
Aurra Sing: 2 FP

This squad has scored 0 Gambit points.

Squad 2

All characters are at full Hit Points unless noted otherwise.

Luke Skywalker and Yoda: 9 FP
Chewbacca, Rebel Hero

This squad has scored 0 Gambit points.

Strategy Tips

If it helps you to solve the puzzle, you can set up the figures on the Tractor Beam Reactor Coupling Map available in the Rebel Storm Starter Set or recent league kits. However, the blank side of a map and replacement figures work just as well. Setting up the figures might help you to make decisions about how they should move.

Which squad should make the first move? Warmaster Tsavong Lah is unaffected by Luke Skywalker and Yoda's Force Powers. Luke and his Master are vulnerable to melee attacks, and small amounts of damage can add up quickly. Chewbacca, Rebel Hero has no special abilities to protect against enemy attacks, but his Bodyguard special ability can help Luke Skywalker and Yoda survive longer. How would you pull off a victory with each squad?

Gambit rules are used in this puzzle. The gambit point is beneath the square nearest to Warmaster Tsavong Lah.

Feel free to post your thoughts or questions about this puzzle in this message board thread.
