A Broken Plan

A Star Wars: Legacy of the Force Miniatures Scenario

Trying to take over a piece of the Sorroco underworld is extremely dangerous. Trying to do so under the nose of the other crime lords is essentially suicidal. That doesn't stop the determined, the greedy, or the foolish, though it is difficult to say which category the Human Rotha Tol'min falls into. In any case, his fledgling operation wasn't around for long before the local crime lords became irritated and posted a bounty big enough to attract the attention of the crew of the Mynock, led by Cade Skywalker.

It was a basic but simple plan. Get into Rotha's audience chamber, scope out the premises by mingling with his associates, and watch for an opportunity to present itself.
It didn't quite work out that way -- the crowd was smaller than expected, making the Mynock crew easy to recognize. Maybe Rotha wasn't as foolish as they thought. He had backup in the form of guard droids and a bodyguard, but most of the crowd wasn't willing to risk themselves to protect him.

"A Broken Plan" begins when Rotha and his underlings recognize Cade and the others. Rotha cannot afford to be embarrassed in front of his potential partners, so his reaction is immediate. Neither side wants to harm the crowd -- that would be bad for everyone's reputation. But the fight degenerates into a chaotic mess as the crowd tries to escape, and in such a small space, things can go bad very quickly.

This scenario uses miniatures from the Legacy of the Force set and the Chancellor's Starship map from the Star Wars Miniatures Starter Set or Ultimate Missions: Revenge of the Sith.

Mynock Crew (Fringe Faction) Setup

The Mynock Crew squad has a total cost of 118 points. The Crew player may create his own 122-point squad instead, but only Fringe faction characters may be used.

See the map for specific setup locations. If additional characters are used, they must set up as close to the door as possible in Area A.

Character Set Cost
Cade Skywalker, Bounty Hunter Legacy of the Force 61
Deliah Blue Legacy of the Force 33
Jariah Syn Legacy of the Force 24
Squad Total 118

Mynock Crew (Fringe Faction) Victory Conditions

The Mynock Crew wins by defeating all of Rotha's units or by taking Rotha's unconscious body off the map through the Blast Door (see below).

Rotha's Organization (Fringe Faction) Setup

The Rotha's Organization squad has a total cost of 122 points. The Organization player may create her own 122-point squad instead, subject to the following restrictions:

  • A maximum of one Unique, non-Force using character may be used, and it must represent Rotha. The unit cannot have a cost higher than 20. It can be from any faction except Sith, Old Republic, or Mandalorian.
  • All other units must be from the Fringe faction.
  • See the map for specific setup locations. Set up any additional units adjacent to those shown in the center of the room, in Area B.

    Character Set Cost
Elite Rebel Commando (Rotha) Legacy of the Force 16
Guard Droid (2) Legacy of the Force 60
Gotal Mercenary Legacy of the Force 13
Kel Dor Bounty Hunter Legacy of the Force 13
Human Bodyguard Legacy of the Force 11
Trandoshan Mercenary Legacy of the Force 9
    Squad Total 122

Rotha's Organization (Fringe Faction) Victory Conditions

Rotha's organization wins by defeating the entire Mynock Crew or by escaping with Rotha (unconscious or not) through the Blast Door.

    Special Scenario Rules

The Crowd: The crowd is made up of 14 miniatures of any unused characters (preferably Fringe) and sets up in areas C and D. They are controlled as follows:

  • The crowd moves after each faction has a turn. In initiative order, each player then activates and moves two crowd members. For example: Player 1 activates normally, Player 2 activates normally, Player 1 activates two crowd members, Player 2 activates two crowd members, play resumes with Player 1 activating his own faction again, and so on through the round. Players need not activate the same crowd members each round.
  • Crowd members are interested only in escape, which restricts their movement. They must move toward the nearest non-turbolift door, except as noted below. Those starting in Area C move toward door 1, and those starting in Area D move toward door 2.
  • It takes a bit of time for the crowd to react fully to the fighting. In the first round, each crowd member can move a maximum of 3 squares. On all subsequent rounds, each crowd member can move a maximum of 6 squares.
  • If a door is completely blocked by units from either faction, the crowd heads for the other door instead.
  • If a door is held closed (such as with Override), the crowd heads for the other door instead. However, if the other door is blocked, the crowd continues to move toward the held door.
  • Crowd members treat all other characters, including other crowd members, as enemy units, preventing anyone from passing through their squares.
  • Crowd members have 10 HP, but they are not legal targets and make no attacks of opportunity. They provide cover, as usual.
  • When a crowd member is adjacent to a unit from either faction, that unit may not be targeted with an attack or ability that would damage the crowd member (such as grenades or attacks that have splash damage).
  • Rotha: The unit representing Rotha gains the Unique ability for this scenario. If this character is defeated, it remains on the board. Any character from either faction may pick up and move the unconscious body a maximum of 6 squares, but it replaces attacks. A character may drop the body in an adjacent square. The body does not affect doors.

Turbolift Movement: Characters may move via turbolift by ending their turn inside the lift. Before the next round begins, move them to another lift. All characters starting together in a lift must move to the same lift. If multiple characters are moving, resolve movement in initiative order for the next round. If a lift already contains characters, no other characters may be moved to that lift from another lift.
