Master Series Prize Distribution Change

Wednesday, February 26, 2003

Starting with the 2003-2004 Magic: The Gathering Pro Tour season, there will be a change in how the Master Series prize money will be awarded.

Instead of holding four separate Masters tournaments throughout the year, the Masters prize money will be awarded based on the final Player of the Year standing, the final results of which is decided at the World Championships (which is the last event that awards pro points in a season).

The total prize money will increase by an extra $35,000 for a total of $635,000. As an additional bonus, the 28 players who would have qualified for the New Orleans Masters event will receive a one-time award of $2000.
