Tyler's Description: Hi, Mike. Howdy, Gengar!
My deck focuses on using any attack while my opponent is put at a slight disadvantage (hopefully). To start off, I can use Erica's Clefairy and Pokémon Breeder Fields to search my deck for early Energy cards and Evolution cards on my other Pokémon while Pokémon March finds more Basic Pokémon. Igglybuff stops one Pokémon Power for the rest of my turn while Unown N, M, and D stop any unwanted pests from hurting my Pokémon. Alakazam B-84-# and Clefable copy my opponent's attacks and send them right back at them. Memory Berry D-48-# is used if Aerodactyl is not out yet. Once I bring out Alakazam B-84-# and Aerodactyl, I can use almost any attack on the field to hurt my opponents more than they hurt me.
The only problem is that I need to have the same amount of Energy cards on Alakazam B-84-# as the Defending Pokémon, and the only way of getting Energy off it was to retreat and put useful Energy in the discard pile. Therefore, I added 2 Energy Flow so that I could put Energy back in my hand instead of in the discard pile.
Tweaking the Deck
Hello, Tyler. Thank you for sending in this deck. It does indeed look like a fun deck to play. The only problem Gengar and I see with it is that it seems like an awful lot to get working at the same time. So we have a few suggestions for streamlining it that should make it work faster and still be a fun deck to play.
Pokémon:
Remove: 1 Unown [D] and 1 Unown [M].
Add: 1 Clefairy (Base Set) and 1 Clefable (Jungle).
Trainers:
Remove: Nada, nothing, zip, zilch.
Add: 2 Professor Oak.
Energy:
Remove: 3 Psychic, 1 Lightning, and 1 Fighting.
Add: 1 Fire, 1 Grass, and 1 Water.
I think the Clefable line will help you more than having the Darkness and Metal Unowns in there. You need more drawing power, so I added the Oaks. Last, I took down the number of Psychic Energy since you don't need as many for the Unowns, and I added Energy to the most used color choices statistically. I think you will find yourself facing less Fighting and Electricity, so I took those down one, as well.
Overall I really love this deck, Tyler. It is a great fun deck with which to play and mystify your opponents. Thanks for submitting it! Oh, and Gengar says, "Hi!"
