Why Your Store Should Run BattleZone

Pokémon BattleZone is a new program designed to give players in a growing number of countries the ability to play in local events that can be held as often as a location would like (from once a month up to once a week). By participating in these events, players can improve their world-wide ratings and rankings (if it sanctioned) while having an opportunity to earn cool prize cards in the process. The program is designed to keep the play style casual while still providing competitive opportunities for interested players.

For example:

  • Pokémon BattleZone events have the same impact on player’s rankings as any local tournament.
  • Prize cards are available to participants in other ways than just to the winners.
  • For rules enforcement, the emphasis is on teaching players the correct way to play.

To make it easier to participate, Pokémon BattleZone events can either be run as sanctioned tournaments or as a simplified league. Each kit will include information on different Pokémon tournament formats that the BattleZone leader and the local players can choose from as well as new information about upcoming Pokémon events and product releases.

Each month 2 different promo cards will be made available. For the winners of the BattleZone event, there will be brand new promo cards that can be either new foil versions of Best of Game Pokémon cards or a brand new never-before-released promo card. These cards will also come with “Winner” stamped in foil on them to remiond everyone how you earned this card.

Each kit will also come with 16 copies of an older promo card that can be won, given out to participants, or earned through league play as well. This card will end up being the same promo card that was collected by the winners of a previous BattleZone season (2 months prior to be exact) MINUS the “winner” stamp.

This means that the winners of a BattleZone event will have a 2 month exclusive window to the promo cards that they earned but 2 months later everyone will have a chance to get their own copies (minus the “winner” stamp).

As an example, the upcoming Holiday Preview kit will come with 16 copies of the LV 25 Misdreavus promo card (# 39) and 8 copies of the first foiled Best of Game promo card, LV 35 Electabuzz (with a foil “Winner” stamp.) Look for more exciting cards in this monthly program starting January 2003!

So, how do you get started??

The Pokemon Battlezone Holiday season is gearing up! We hope to start the holiday season in late November and it will run until January when Season one of Battlezone will begin.
