Matthew Sernett has indeed dared enter this dungeon, and returned with many a tale of its horror. His ongoing series, Return to Undermountain examines several of its rooms of interest. Other explorers have tried their hand as well, with players submitting their own version of a room, in our Call to Adventurers contest. Yet so vast is Undermountain that an entire team of explorers could not fully chronicle its depths. Take a look at its description in City of Splendors: Waterdeep; the sprawling dungeon laid out in the Return to Undermountain series is but the first of many levels! As a DM, how would you dare populate so massive an area? Or, any dungeon with numerous rooms to fill? Presenting our Dungeon Room Description Generator, with descriptions authored by Matthew Sernett. A room without an encounter need not be an empty room -- not with 100 descriptions to fill it! (Launch Dungeon Room Description Generator!)
About the Author Once Editor-in-Chief of Dragon magazine and now a game designer at Wizards of the Coast, Matthew Sernett wrote in a Dragon editorial that there's nothing in D&D he likes better than when the adventurers flee through the dungeon, running pell-mell through traps and past monsters because what chases them is worse. When he wrote that, Matthew was thinking about Undermountain. | ||
