Limited Championship: Gen Con So Cal
2005 D&D Miniatures Championships

Held at Gen Con So Cal 2005 in Anaheim, CA, with exclusive prizes for all participants, and offering an opportunity for the winner to work with the Wizards of the Coast R&D department to develop a D&D battlemap of their choosing!

Eligibility

All players in good standing with the DCI who hold an invitation to the D&D Miniatures Limited Championship are eligible to compete in the Championship event.

Format

  • Sealed format (2 sealed pack builds with 2 Underdark Booster Packs per player each) with top 8 booster draft (2 Underdark Booster Packs per player)
  • The second sealed pack build will take place after round 4
  • 200-point warbands
  • Warband lists are required
  • Check the DCI Document Center for Limited-format rules

Tournament Length

  • Swiss rounds - 60 minutes per round
  • Number of Swiss rounds based on attendance according to the following chart:

Advancement

  • All players may participate in all Swiss rounds.
  • The top 8 players after the final Swiss round will advance to the top 8 single-elimination finals on Sunday, November 20th.

Top 8

  • Top 8 matches will have a 60-minute time limit
  • Where necessary, the standings after the Swiss rounds will still be used to determine final order in the standings.

  • 32K, REL 3
  • All Universal Tournament Rules and D&D Miniatures Floor Rules are in effect for this event unless specifically overruled by information in this Format Document
  • All players will play on the Magma Keep battle map, provided on-site
  • Players must bring pen, paper, terrain tiles, map sheet, and appropriate counters

Tournament Structure

Modified Swiss-style, with top 8 playing in single elimination finals to determine the Champion. No terrain tiles will be used; players will use a customized battle map, Magma Keep, that will be given to them at the Championship. The battle map for the Championship will be made public online at least four weeks prior the Championship.

Top 8 will be played on Sunday, November 20th in the Miniatures Hall, starting at 10:00 A.M.

Invitations, Eligibility, and Prize Schedule

Entry into the event is by invitation only. The invitation list is compiled by the following criteria:

  • Returning 2005 D&D Miniatures Constructed Championship winner.
  • Top 4 finishers from each D&D Miniatures 2005 Championship Series Qualifier.
  • Top 8 finishers in the D&D Miniatures Championship Series Open (details below)
  • Top 25 D&D Miniatures worldwide DCI Limited rated players not currently invited, announced six weeks before the Championship

Prizes

First place

  • Opportunity to work with the Wizards of the Coast R&D department to develop a D&D battlemap of their choosing, for inclusion within a future set of D&D Miniatures.
  • Exclusive hand-painted miniature available only at the Championship.
  • D&D Miniatures product.

Second-Fourth place

  • Exclusive hand-painted miniature available only at the Championship.
  • D&D Miniatures product.

Fifth-Eigth place

  • D&D Miniatures product

D&D Miniatures Championship Open

On Friday, November 18th at Gen Con So Cal, Wizards of the Coast will host the final chance for you to win an invitation to the Championship: the D&D Miniatures Limited Championship Series Open.

This 200- point Limited, Assault format tournament is open to all players who do not hold an invitation to the Championship, and will offer invitations to the top 8 finishers to the D&D Miniatures Limited Championship the next day.
