Recurring Villainy

War Troll Everyone who plays the D&D game loves the monsters. You may love reading about them, drawing your own versions or them, or, of course, battling them with your heroic PCs. The troll is one of the iconic creatures of the game, and is one monster many of us love to hate.

With that in mind, we proudly present the first Random Villainy to use figures exclusively from the War Drums set. Given below are 20 encounters, ranging from EL 6 to EL 12. Only the War Troll and its lieutenant, the Gulgar, are rare figures. If you lack either of these, or any miniatures listed below, feel free to replace them with others of similar CRs. Either the Gulgar or the War Troll, as two examples, could be replaced by a Sand Giant, a Hill Giant Chieftain, or King Obould Many-Arrows.

It's important for the main villain to last long enough in the campaign to become a major thorn in the sides of the PCs. Prepare for the PCs' encounter with the troll ahead of time by coming up with at least one escape plan, or give the regenerating creature a magic item that lets it slip mysteriously away until you decide it's time for the PCs to achieve final victory.
