Vampire Aristocrat
Recurring Villainy

As a recurring villain, a vampire is hard to beat -- in lots of ways. Few monsters have more ways to slip away from certain destruction than the classic, undead bloodsucker.

Presented here are 20 encounters ranging from level 1 to level 10. Each is with the vicious Vampire Aristocrat or its minions, human or otherwise. All of the encounters are built with D&D Miniatures using the standard RPG stats from their stat cards. In other words, while the PCs get tougher, the vampire never does. It will be a CR 8 monster in every encounter where it appears.

Human Commoners are interchangeable one-for-one with Human Bandits, Human Crossbowmen, Men-at-Arms, or Hobgoblin Warriors. Dread Guards or Cursed Spirits can be exchanged with Hobgoblin Sergeants, and Gravehounds are interchangeable with Dire Wolves.

As with any recurring villain, it's important to keep the vampire alive until the climactic encounter. The vampire has numerous innate abilities that will serve it well in this regard, but some additional escape magic, such as a ring of teleport or freedom of movement still might come in handy.
