Instruments of Change
“The Traveler comes. Choose to be the instrument of his change, or the victim of it.”
If the Defiance is the organization of the Cabal of Shadows, the driving force is the Instruments of Change. To many in the Instruments of Change, the coming dark age spoken of by the Caldyn Fragments is precisely the sort of gift one would expect from the Traveler, and they plan to bring it about as befitting his the agents of his divine will.
The members of the Instruments of Change are as diverse as the guises of the Traveler, but all have some faith in his supremacy over the rest of the gods, as the world only advances through change. Instruments seek to improve the world through radical change, and sometimes act with what appears to be random behavior, but they see themselves as the chosen of their god; those who will be the masters of the New Age.

Members: Members of the Instruments are most likely to be changlings, spies, assassins, or clerics of the Traveler. Many who started lives as sneak thieves or rogues and found religion or simply enjoy the chaos of the Traveler are drawn to the Instruments. This Obscura motivates the Cabal of Shadows to bring about the coming of the Traveler and to remake the world according to his desires. Almost every member of the Instruments of Change follows the Traveler in some way, though a minority also give praise to the Shadow.
Alignment: As followers of the Traveler, nearly all members of this Obscura are chaotic with slightly more being neutral than evil. It is hard for members of this Obscura to promote radical and sometimes random seeming change without being somewhat chaotic themselves.
Recognition Sign: All members of the Instruments of Change carry a musical instrument of some kind, or barring that, wear some jewelry that incorporates music. When meeting a potential member of their Obscura, Instruments frequent play or hum a few random notes and if also a member, the other replies in kind. The correct notes for the response vary in a complicated pattern with the phases of the moon.
Leader: The Discordant Voyage leads the Instruments of Change and is their representative to the Council of the Obscured. The Voyage is a zealot of the Traveler who is the only member of the council who never appears masked. Rather each time, the Discordant Voyage appears in different form with a different, often inappropriate voice. From a small halfling boy with the voice of a raging firestorm to the humble minotaur, the leader of this Obscura is never the same.
Goals: The Instruments seek to evangelize the name of the Traveler and convert others to his path of chaotic change. In particular, the Instruments of Change believe that the New Age spoken of in the holy Caldyn Fragments is one in which the Dark Six will rise to prominence and in order for this to happen, the Traveler, or some divine representative of his, must be physically brought into the world to reshape it in his own image. The Instruments believe it is their purpose to awaken this dark chaos so that the world can be remade.
