The melee muscle of the Balor's band is unmatched among the commanders in this poll; few opponents can withstand many hits at 25 or 30 damage apiece. When it comes time for a morale check, the Balor's crew can work together to force the opponent to endure penalties up to -8, with the looming threat of Enslave ability hanging overhead.

Vlaakith the Lich Queen
Vlaakith's all-Fearless warband doesn't worry about morale saves, but opponents need to worry about Disintegrate saves, possibly at -2 because of the Cursed Spirit's aura. Both of Vlaakith's melee beaters can heal themselves as they fight, and Vlaakith's DR and resistances make her no soft target, either.
