Battle of the (War)bands
Chaotic Good Concludes

It's week 9 of Battle of the Warbands -- time to select the CG "key" piece. But first, let's look back to last week's poll, asking for your CE key choices:

Vlaakith the Lich Queen

Choice 2: Thrall of Blackrazor, Cursed Spirit: 42.3%
Choice 3: Zombie White Dragon, Githyanki Fighter: 32.1%
Choice 1: Large Red Dragon: 25.6%

Choice 3: Ogre Ravager, Orc Wardrummer: 36.6%
Choice 2: Chimera: 35.3%
Choice 1: Green Slaad, Cursed Spirit: 28.0%

Now that each faction has its pair of commanders, it's time to select the warbands they'll lead.

There will be two weeks of voting for each faction's warbands. In the first week, you'll choose the style and goals of the faction's warbands by picking a few key pieces to take the bands in a particular direction. In the second week of voting, you'll finish the warbands by adding support pieces, secondary beaters, and fodder.

This week, pick one option for each Chaotic Good commander:

Drizzt's Warband

  • Tordek, Dwarf Champion

Choice 1: Rikka, Angelic Avenger; Aramil, Adventurer; Jozan, Cleric of Pelor; Xeph Warrior x 2 (200 points, 8 activations)
Rikka's Waylay ability can combine with Drizzt's Scout ability to provide an early one-two punch nearly anywhere on the board, and the boost Rikka gets from Drizzt's command effect makes her a powerful force to be reckoned with. Aramil can enfeeble enemy hitters and eliminate enemy fodder with magic missiles.

Choice 2: Guenhwyvar; Graycloak Ranger (with Wolf minion); Xeph Warrior x 2 (200 points, 7 activations)
Drizzt's faithful companion Guenhwyvar is a fast, Fearless addition to the band. After receiving a magic fang spell from the Graycloak Ranger, she can fight near Drizzt to hit nearly as reliably as Tordek, and her good speed allows her to set up flanks and exploit holes in your opponent's defense.

Choice 3: Bralani Eladrin; Mialee, Elf Wizard; Lidda, Halfing Rogue; Xeph Warrior x 3 (200 points, 8 activations)
The mobile and resilient Bralani Eladrin gives Drizzt's warband a ranged threat that cannot be ignored. Able to shoot reliably with his ranged attack or let loose with a devastating whirlwind blast, the Bralani can soften up your enemy before melee is joined. Mialee's magic missile and Lidda's ranged attack provide minor assistance as well.

Storm Silverhand's Warband

  • Half-Elf Bow Initiate
  • Storm Archer

Choice 1: Elf Dragonkith; Graycloak Ranger (with Wolf minion); Arcanix Guard; Crested Felldrake (200 points, 8 activations)
When gaining fearless and fly from Storm, and Dragon Bolstered from the Crested Felldrake, the Elf Dragonkith can be a tough melee beater to run interference for the band's potent archers. The Arcanix Guard, also fearless when near Storm, can do significant damage to spell-resistant enemies.

Choice 2: Frenzied Berserker; Mialee, Elf Wizard; Xeph Warrior x 3 (200 points, 8 activations)
Frenzied Berserkers are tough beaters, but their low AC means they struggle when attacked by enemy fodder. The plethora of ranged attacks from the archers in Storm's band should clear out that troublesome fodder, and Storm's fly spell can ensure the Berserker reaches her targets without suffering AoOs.

Choice 3: Bralani Eladrin; Crow Shaman; Xeph Warrior x 2 (200 points, 7 activations)
The Bralani Eladrin's powerful ranged attack and whirlwind blast adds a fourth significant ranged threat to Storm's band, while the Crow Shaman's cat's grace spell can buff any (or all) of the archer's ranged attacks and AC. Snake's swiftness is another welcome addition, allowing timely bonus attacks from a well-positioned unit.
