It's week 3 of Battle of the Warbands -- time to select two Lawful Evil commanders. But first, let's look back to last week's poll, asking for your CG commander choices:

The Lawful Evil Candidates

Human Blackguard
Harbinger
No other commander in the game can grant followers a better bonus on morale saves than this blackguard can. Of course, failing a Tyrannical Morale save is fatal, but who needs cowardly followers anyway? This commander also dishes out reasonable damage in melee with his Smite and Sneak Attack, making him an efficient use of 46 points.

Lord Soth
Giants of Legend
The Knight of the Black Rose is a tortured soul, and he's likely to take out his anguish on your opponent. A deadly Abyssal Blast, an Aura of Fear, and excellent defenses explain Lord Soth's high cost, and his melee attacks can devastate opponents with low to mid ACs.

Mordenkainen the Mage
Giants of Legend
We dare not guess the motives of Mordenkainen, so we can't explain why he's competing for command of warbands from each faction. We do know that his spells, resistances, and command effect will be just as useful to LE warbands as they are in other factions.

Pit Fiend
Blood War
This Pit Fiend is grumpy that a Solar was chosen to command one of the LG warbands, and he would like nothing better than to lead a band against it. Fireballs can soften up opposing warbands prior to engagement, and then his good attacks, high AC, and Aura of Fear help him finish them off in melee.

Red Wizard
Archfiends
All spellcasters can do serious damage with their own spells, but only the Red Wizard can boost the damage of allies' spells. Raining down death from afar is this wizard's specialty. Keep him protected from opposing melee beaters, and he'll treat you well.

Shuluth, Archvillain
War Drums
Shuluth did not fare very well in Creature Competition 1, losing in the first round to the eventual winner. He threatened to eat our brains unless we gave him another shot, which explains his presence here. Shuluth's unlimited Stun Cones can keep some opposing creatures out of the action, and even those that make their stun saves still need to resist his potent command effect.

Snig the Axe
Archfiends
No one is sure whether Snig is the name of the goblin or of the magical axe he wields -- but everybody likes the way Snig's goblin minions let you break the activation limit. Four activations and a commander for 20 points could be the best bargain in the game, and Snig's command effect is occasionally useful, too. All that and a cute hat!

Urthok the Vicious
Dragoneye
Urthok offers your warband a boost in attack bonuses, a good command rating, and an occasional whack of his sword for mediocre damage, all for the bargain price of 34 points. Not bad for a hobgoblin!
