Battle of the (War)bands
We're launching the Battle of the Warbands. To start things rolling, you get to select the commanders of two Lawful Good warbands, with other factions to follow. Then you'll fill out the warbands and eventually decide which is tops.
Cleric of Yondalla
With a decent commander rating, useful spells and super-low cost, this halfling leaves room for plenty of beef in a warband. Sure, he's slow and fragile, but what do you expect for a mere 14 points?
A mobile flyer with great spells, useful warband building, and arguably the best commander effect in the game, the rainbow snake is a strong choice for LG warbands. However, his bottom-of-the-barrel commander rating of 0 leaves followers likely to rout.
Mordenkainen the Mage
Giants of Legend
While neither lawful nor good, Mordy's been known to lead warbands that are. His impressive array of spells and the unavoidable damage from his command effect make this Circle of Eight member a solid choice.
Giants of Legend
Stunning attacks can cripple an opposing warband -- all the more so if they get a damage boost from this young monk's command effect. With mobility and speed 10, he can get where he needs to be in a hurry. Sadly, low attack bonuses mean he sometimes struggles to hit opponents once he's there.
Cleric of Lathander
Have an undead problem? Searing light and turn undead are a good solution, and this cleric has them both, along with a solid command rating for his cost and good utility spells. Keep him back from the battle, though -- 30 HP won't last long.
Purple Dragon Knight
Two words -- fear cone. Yes, this knight has decent attacks for good damage, a high AC, and a great commander rating. But it's the fear cone that makes him truly dangerous. If you can manage to get this slowpoke into position, your opponent will be rolling a lot of saves.
Fast and Fearless, with a hefty melee attack and a command effect that boosts damage, this Archon can deliver a lot of damage in a short time. And he'd better, because even accounting for DR and spell resistance, his hit points are low for his cost.
SolarWhich is your preferred LG commander?
Massive melee attacks and a deadly slaying arrow make the Solar dangerous both near and far. But the king of the good outsiders is expensive, consuming half the points available to your warband. Will he have enough support to back him up?
