As work proceeds on the visuals for the new Forgotten Realms campaign setting, D&D artist Sam Wood and Realms newcomer Matt Wilson take a moment from their concept work to give us a glimpse at the new look they've created for some classic characters. |

Alusair: "The attempt with Alusair was to give her a sort of warrior maiden look," said illustrator Matt Wilson. "She's tough, but she's feminine as well and her eyes sort of look past the battle to a better place."

Alustriel: "Alustriel needed to appear wizened beyond her apparent age," Matt notes. "She's stern, in control, and attractive, but not overly sexy or too dramatic. She is absorbed in thoughts of the academic persuasion."

|
Artemis Entreri: "Artemis is the guy you don't want to run into in a dark alley," warns Matt. "He's also the guy you don't want coming through your window in the middle of the night, like he's doing here. Whatever he's up to, you know it has to be unscrupulous."

|
Scyllua: "The idea for Scyllua was to create an evil holy warrior," says Sam Wood of this sketch. "She's a deliberate twist on the traditional view of Joan of Arc -- every bit as zealous and devout, but merciless and vicious as well. She also happens to be a very charismatic leader, so I tried to give her a look that's menacing and warlike but not overtly evil."
