Retailer kits are part of Combat Zone -- a retail support program for Axis & Allies Miniatures. Each month, the kit refreshes and a new retailer kit is released. The retailer kits contain marketing support materials, custom hex tiles and prizes for that campaign month. Using the retailer kit, you and your players can run events as often as you like whether it's once a week or once a month. The Combat Zone Offensive page provides a detailed content list for each retailer kit released. Kits are available to retailers through their Wizards of the Coast direct sales contact.
The retailer kit helps you support a variety of play styles including tournaments and leagues. Sanctioning these events provides you and your players with the greatest benefit.
The kit is available to retailers through the Wizards of the Coast direct sales department. If your store has a group of willing DCI members as customers, the store needs to order the kits, but you are more than welcome to have interested members run your Combat Zone events. Retailers can order up to four kits each month and each kit costs $15 US.
To sanction play for Combat Zone skirmishes, schedule all your events for the campaign season at one time, and submit your request to Wizards of the Coast. Sanctioning request are due at Wizards on the 20th day of the month proceeding the season you wish to sanction. For example, to sanction events for the September campaign, your request must be received at Wizards by August 20th. You may either FAX your request to the DCI at (425) 254-2987 or mail it to:
DCI Tournament Sanctioning
P.O. Box 1080
Renton, WA 98057-1080
Once your request is approved, the DCI staff sends out a customized event report summary for each event you scheduled for the campaign season, a pad of membership cards, and (if you are new to sanctioning DCI tournaments) a Tournament Organizer's Handbook. If this is the first month you are running Combat Zone and you want to sanction these events, please submit your sanctioning forms to the DCI as early as possible.
You may choose to run non-sanctioned tournaments or leagues, but you must submit one Combat Zone Reporting form each campaign in order to remain eligible for Combat Zone.
Leagues are casual Axis and Allies Miniatures events. Players must be DCI members to participate in leagues. The typical league runs two-hour sessions once a week throughout the campaign season. Participants earn points each time they play at a session. At the end of the campaign season, players tally their points, the victor is determined, and prizes are awarded. To wrap up sanctioned play, your reporting forms must be submitted to Wizards by the 15th day of the month following the campaign season. For example, results for the September campaign season are due by October 15th. You may report sanctioned league events online using DCI Reporter, or mail them to the DCI Tournament Sanctioning address.
Tournaments are Axis & Allies Miniatures skirmish events typically limited to a single day of play. Players must be DCI members to participate in tournaments. Participants are matched in a series of consecutive games based on their win/lose records. After the final match, the victor is declared and prizes are awarded. To wrap up sanctioned tournament play, your reporting forms must be submitted to Wizards by the 15th day of the month following the campaign season. For example, results for the September campaign season are due by October 15th. You may report sanctioned tournament events online using DCI Reporter, or mail them to the DCI Tournament Sanctioning address.
The rules governing miniature games are available from the Axis & Allies Miniatures Tournaments page.
DCI memberships are free. When you sanction events, you are provided with membership applications. If a participant needs to sign up, have them fill out the application section of the form and hand them their card. Each application has a membership card attached, and each card has a unique membership number.
