Indiana State Finals were held the twenty-first of November, at the
Indianapolis convention center. The format was standard, with seven
rounds of swiss. 128 people were in the main tournament, falling one
player short of the eight round mark. Registration ended at 10:15, and
the play began at 10:30. Team Sexual Chocolate judged the event, with our
usual group. Mitch Smithson, lIII, was the head judge and t.o. In
addition, Myself (lII), Jenny Ulman (lII), Dave Mallash (lII), Rick Dean
(lI), and Jim Hall (t), were present to judge. Several side events began
on round two, and we continued to post them throughout the day. From the
questions asked of judges, the players still have trouble understanding
the stack. We tried to explain these the best we could. Questions arouse
about the scent cards. Do you reveal the x cards on resolution or
announcement. (resolution). In round four, three tables were deck
checked, and every table had at least one problem. The system does work,
and it was handled accordingly. An apology must be made on my part. I
incorrectly answered a question dealing with powder keg and contamination.
This decision cost the player a game, but didn't effect the outcome of the
tournament. (It was round 2). In the quarterfinals, Mike Jeffers
defeated Jon Wright,Granger Peterson (the returning champ) defeated Matt
Lackey, Klaus Huebert won over Steve Zimmerman, and Judah Alt beat Kerry
Stump. In the finals, Granger defended the title of State Champ against
Klaus. In the end, Granger became the first ever repeating state champ.
