September 4th, 1999 - 21 Players

This was the first event, where I was both the tournament
organizer and the head judge. While having been in close contact
with the TO I had previously worked, this still meant that I had
to take into account more issues when planning and running the event:
booking the venue, prizes, advertising ... but since this is supposed to
be a report with a view from the judge's view, that's that for the TO issues.
I had one other person assisting in enrolling the players, gathering admission,
giving out info on the arrangements so I could answer any questions and take care
of the computer at the same time.
21 players arrived by the scheduled starting time, which was a bit less than I'd
expected, but still enough to make it a proper tournament. (Standard and Limited
formats seem to draw the biggest masses around here.) No particular problems or questions
during the rounds, players were quite informed on the latest rulings/errata, so I didn't
have to intervene on such issues. During the breaks some people came by my desk, asking
confirmation to some situations that they had thought about or had come up in non-tournament
games. Nothing overly difficult, so I managed to give them answers to both mine and their
satisfaction.
All in all, the tournament was over fairly smoothly.
