Come join Wizards of the Coast for our next Pro Tour stop in Philadelphia, PA. This information will help you to prepare now to attend in May. Pro Tour Philadelphia will be held May 6-8, 2005.

regMandatory Registration

Player registration will occur at the tournament site 4pm-8pm on Thursday, May 5th.

Players must have a signed waiver and consent form to compete at Pro Tour Philadelphia. Forms can be downloaded at wizards.com/protour and will be available onsite. Minors must have a parent or guardian’s signature on these forms.

Bring these forms with you to registration. We will make forms available for competitors at registration, if necessary.

At registration, all participants must present one of the following forms of identification upon request:

  • a driver’s license, or
  • a passport, or
  • a copy of their birth certificates and photo IDs (school IDs are acceptable).

formatFormat and Schedule

All Universal Tournament Rules and Magic: the Gathering Floor Rules are in effect for this event unless specifically overruled by information in this Format Document

Note: The prize structure for this event differs from the normal payout. See the "Pro Tour - Philadelphia Prize Payout" for details

Format

  • Champions of Kamigawa Block Constructed format
  • Check www.thedci.com for Block Constructed format rules.

Round Length

  • 12 Swiss Rounds total plus Top 8 Single-elimination finals, 75 minutes per round
  • Top 8 single-elimination finals have no time limit
  • When time is called, the active player will finish the turn and five additional turns will be taken
  • Stalling and slow play rules will be strictly enforced during the tournament.

Advancement

  • Players play all Swiss rounds until they receive their third match loss or draw, at which time they will be automatically be dropped from the tournament.
  • Match draws will count as losses for purposes of elimination. Draws will not count as losses for ratings.
  • Players will receive 3 points for a match win, 0 points for a draw or loss.
  • Byes, if necessary, will be awarded to a random player in highest score group (the players with the most match points) that has not already received a bye in the tournament.
  • The top 8 players after round 12 will advance to Sunday’s top 8 single-elimination finals.

Top 8

  • Top 8 matches will be best 3 of 5
  • Where necessary, the standings after the Swiss rounds will still be used to determine final order in the standings.

Notes

  • 48K, REL 5
  • Players are responsible for knowing all DCI rules and high-level tournament rules.
  • Players must bring pen, paper, card sleeves and appropriate counters.

Instead of basing prize winnings on the final standings, players will be playing for a certain set amount of cash in each round. The winner of each match will win the amounts listed below. The loser of each match will received $0. Drawn matches will award one-half of the amounts listed below to each player in the match.
