Thursday, 1:35 p.m. - Interview with Alex Ullmanby Mike Gills
At the end of the 1st round, the community team is winning 59 to 58 points. This is partially due to Alex (aka Spike) being the only player to go 3-0 in the Zendikar draft.
. We asked Alex a couple of questions after the draft ended.
As the only player to go 3-0 in the draft, how do you feel? It was unexpected and awesome!
Did you get a chance to practice Zendikar and the other formats much before this event? Not as much as I would like, mostly a few games here and there. Playing a lot of Pauper has helped me though as my decks are similar. It also helped me with drafting by learning the commons. My first pick in the draft was a common (though I ended up not playing it).
Who was your toughest opponent so far? Mark Rosewater. He is the only person to win a single game against me though you will notice that he had plenty of help from Aaron and Alexis and others.
How do you think the community team will do in the rest of the event? We only have to finish .500 the rest of the way out to win!
Thursday, 4:30 p.m. – Exciting 100 Card Singleton Stories!by Lee Sharpe
In Round 1, the pairings saw fit to put Pro Tour Hall of Famers Mike Turian and Randy Buehler against one another. Turian got Summoning Trap in two games. One of them gave Turian a turn 2 Reveillark. Remember to be on the look out, or you may fall for one of Zendikar's traps!
In round 2, it was my turn to play Randy Buehler. His Stuffy Doll didn't bother me so much, because my Knight of the Holy Nimbus got through it anyway, thanks to its flanking ability. However, Randy played Guilty Conscience, which resulted in Stuff Doll damaging itself, then me, itself, then me, etc, until I was dead. How unfortunate! (Though I suppose it's fortunate to all of you...)
Meanwhile, Ryan Dhuse was playing GamingAngelSam. Down to 4 life, he gets an Earthcraft on the battlefield, which is extremely powerful when you have Wild Growth and Utopia Sprawl enchanting a Forest. He then tutored up Selesnya Guildmage, which allows him to make a bunch of Saprolings. Good enough? Well, he wasn't done yet! He follows that up on the following turn with Beastmaster Ascension and Eldrazi Monument. He swings with everything, and even though Sam's life total is 42, but this combo allowed Dhuse to get in for 50 damage and win the game!

Friday, 9:45 a.m. – Multiball bonus points!by Mike Gills
In the Community Challenge Cup rules we mentioned tha bonus points would be available. Now I will explain the "Multiball team multiplier" taking place in today's events.
Now that the Community team has 9 players (John from Wired arrived last night) there will still be 8 players for each team competing and the 9th player will be competing for a multiplier bonus for their team! Each match win for this Multiball player earns or increases a team score multiplier for that event. One cumulative extra match win over the opponent's total match wins earns a x1.5 multiplier for the team score, 2 wins earns a 2x multiplier, 3 wins earns a 3x multiplier, and 4 wins earns a whopping 4x multiplier!
During the Standard Unified constructed Hamtastic will be competing against Jeremy Ballenger from the business team in 3 rounds of MOMIR basic for the Multiball bonus.

Hamtastic competes in Multiball for the Community

Jeremy represents WOTC in the Multiball MOMIR Basic challenge.
Friday, 1:50 p.m. – Score Update after 3rd eventby Mike Gills
The Unified Construction event ended with the WOTC team earning 110 points and the community team earning 75. Fortunately the Community Team won the Multiball competition 2 match wins to 1 and thus earned a 1.5 multipler! This brought their event total to 113 points slighlty closing the score gap.
At the end of 3 events, the score now stands Community 230 and WOTC 279. The IPA draft and the special Sealed Multiball competition is coming next.
Friday, 6:45 p.m. – Community Cup Victoryby Mike Gills
As the IPA draft went on, it became clear that WOTC's lead could be only surmounted through tough play by the community team in both the draft and in the Multiball sealed events. It would take both for them to make up the lead that the WOTC team had slowly made throughout the event.
The community team managed to split all of the matches in the IPA draft and nearly matched WOTC's score (WOTC 62 - Community 56). The score for the Community team was then multiplied by 3 due to the skillful play (and lucky draws) of Bubba0077 who managed to win all 3 multiball events. Once the math was all done, the final score stood at Community Team 398 - Wizards of the Coast 341. The Community Team wins the first Community Challege Cup!

The Community Team - 1st winners of the Community Challenge Cup.
We would like to thank all of the WOTC staff, Press, and Magic Online community leaders who participated in tihs inaugural event AND especially thank the Magic Online community itself for their strategy and advice, their cheers, and their passion. We really couldn't do this without you!
