Event Dates and Locations

The 2004 Star WarsTM TCG Championship Series Qualifier will be held in various locations in May and June 2004. See this listing for a complete and up-to-date schedule.

Entry Fee

Entry fee is $10 for all Star Wars TCG Championship Series Qualifier events. Check with your local event organizer for details.

Tournament Format

The tournament format is Star Wars TCG Constructed.

Tournament Structure

Tournaments are straight Swiss format according to 2003-2004 DCI Universal Tournament Rules, DCI Penalty Guidelines, and all DCI rules pertaining to Star Wars Constructed tournament rules, including all updates announced and in force as of the September 1, 2003 rules update. Check the DCI site for online copies of these rules.

Rounds consist of best of three matches with 50-minute time limits. All Star Wars TCG sets and promotional cards may be used.

Final standings will be based on the Swiss round results. There is no single-elimination top 8.

Invitations, Eligibility, and Prize Schedule

Players who have already won a Star Wars TCG Championship Series Qualifier, or already received invitations to the championship and won a Wizards of the Coast Gen Con Indy 2004 Player Rewards package through another championship series (Avalon Hill or Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures) may not compete in further qualifier tournaments. Players who have received invitations to the championship by finishing 2nd-4th but have not won a Player Rewards package may still compete in further qualifiers. However, any additional invites won will not pass down.

Prizes

  • The top 4 finishers at each event receive an invitation to the Star Wars TCG Championship at Gen Con Indy 2004 on August 21, 2004 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
  • Top 4 players receive a four-day pass to Gen Con Indy for themselves and a guest. (Approximate retail value: $120 US.)
  • The winner of each qualifier receives a Wizards of the Coast Gen Con Indy 2004 Player Rewards package, if eligible*.
  • All top-finishing players will receive Star Wars TCG product.

Players winning invitations or travel awards will be contacted by a representative of Wizards of the Coast based on contact information given to the local organizer by the player at the time of the event.

*Each player is eligible to win one Wizards of the Coast Gen Con Indy 2004 Player Rewards Package. The Wizards of the Coast Gen Con Indy 2004 Player Rewards package includes round-trip coach airfare for the winner and a guest from the major airport nearest the winner's home to Indianapolis, Indiana to attend the 2004 Star Wars TCG Championship held at Gen Con Indy August 19-22, 2004 and double occupancy accommodations at a hotel chosen by Wizards of the Coast, Inc. Meals, gratuities, ground transportation and all other expenses not specified herein are the winner's responsibility. All taxes are the responsibility of the winner. A representative of Wizards of the Coast, Inc. will contact the winner regarding this prize package. This prize is nonnegotiable. Trip must be taken on the dates designated by Wizards, or prize will be forfeited and will not be re-awarded. Specific travel dates and arrangements are subject to availability. Winner and guest must travel together on same itinerary.

Legal Information and Prize Language

Except where prohibited, acceptance of prize constitutes winner's consent to the use of his/her name, photograph, likeness and/or biographical information for advertising and promotional purposes worldwide, without limitation or additional compensation.

Prizes won by minors will be awarded to a parent or legal guardian in the minor's behalf, who must sign any required documentation and, with respect to the 1st-place qualifier prize, accompany winner on trip.

Winners will be notified of prize verification by mail, and may be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release (where permitted) within 15 days of notification. Failure to comply with this condition will result in forfeiture of prize. Guest of 1st-place qualifier prize winner will also be required to sign and return a Liability/Publicity Release prior to travel.

Prizes are nontransferable; no cash redemptions or prize substitutions allowed except at Wizards' sole discretion. Wizards may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if an advertised prize becomes unavailable. All taxes on prizes are winners' responsibility.
