Entry Fee
The entry fee for each Regional Championship is ¥3,000.

Format

Standard Constructed Format. As of May 2, 2008, the following expansions are legal in Standard Constructed: Core Set 10th Edition, Coldsnap, Time Spiral, Planar Chaos, Future Sight, Lorwyn, Morningtide, and Shadowmoor. There are currently no banned cards.
- Deck lists are required at all Regional Championship tournaments.
Invitations and Prizes
- Each Regional Championship tournament will award a number of invitations to the 2008 Japan National Championship based on the number of participants. One invitation will be awarded for the first 32 players, and an additional invitation will be awarded for every 16 players beyond the first 32.
- Players who earn an invite to the National Championship at a Regional Championship tournament held outside the Kantou region will be eligible for a travel award as per the following chart.

(Players must participate in the National Championship to receive their travel award. The travel award is calculated assuming a round-trip using the most direct train or air route to Tokyo from the city the Regional Championship is held in. All travel awards are determined by Wizards of the Coast, are final, and non-negotiable. Players must provide proof of identity and have their personal seal to receive their travel award.)
- Booster packs of Shadowmoor may be awarded as additional prizes at each Regional Championship tournament, at the organizer's discretion.
Tournament Length
- 50 minutes per round.
- Number of Swiss rounds played is based on attendance according to the following chart:
Advancement
- All players may participate in all Swiss rounds.
- No single-elimination rounds will be run. Prizes and invitations will be awarded on Swiss standings only.
Notes
- All Regional Championship tournaments will be 32K, and are run at Rules Enforcement Level: Competitive.
- Players are responsible for knowing all DCI rules.
- Players must bring pen, paper, cards sleeves, and appropriate counters.
Registration Information
- Players who require more specific local tournament or registration information should contact the tournament organizer.
- Players may participate in only one Regional Championship tournament per season. If a player plays in more than one Regional Championship tournament, that player will be subject to penalties from the DCI.
- Players who already have an invitation to the Japan National Championship may not participate in a Regional Championship. This includes:
- Members of the 2007 Japan National Team
- Players who are Level 2 or higher in the Pro Player Club
- The Top 100 Ranked players in Japan as of June 25, 2008
