Cost
The entry fee for the 2009 Magic: The Gathering Vintage Championship is $24.00. Please note that admission to GEN CON is also required. Please visit www.gencon.com for more information.
Format
- Vintage Format
- No proxies of any kind are allowed
- Open to all players
Tournament Length
- Swiss rounds, 60 minutes per round
- Number of rounds based on attendance according to the following chart:

Advancement
- All players may participate in all Swiss rounds.
- The Top 8 players after the final Swiss round will advance to the Top 8 single-elimination finals.
Top 8
- Top 8 matches will be best 2 of 3.
- Top 8 matches will have no time limit.
- Where necessary, the standings after the Swiss rounds will still be used to determine final order in the standings.
Notes
- 48K, REL Competitive
- All Universal Tournament Rules and Magic: the Gathering Floor Rules are in effect for this event unless specifically overruled by information in this document
- Players must bring pen, paper, card sleeves and appropriate counters.
Prizes
- The winner receives an alternative art framed Mox Emerald trophy!
- Boosters for other top finishers:
- 2nd place: 10 Italian Legends, 4 Black-bordered Italian Revised, 3 Chinese Portal: Three Kingdoms.
- 3rd – 4th place: 4 Italian Legends, 2 Black-bordered Italian Revised, 2 Chinese Portal: Three Kingdoms.
- 5th through 8th place: 3 Italian Legends, 1 Black-bordered Italian Revised, 1 Chinese Portal: Three Kingdoms.
- 9th through 16th place: 1 Italian Legends, 1 Black-bordered Italian Revised, 1 Chinese Portal: Three Kingdoms.

Cost: $12.00 per tournament
- 7 p.m. Thursday, August 13 – Vintage Championship Prelim
Vintage Format. Swiss rounds based on attendance plus single-elimination Top 8. Winner receives a 2-round bye at the 2009 Vintage Championship! Additional prizes to Top 8 including a From the Vault: Exiled to 2nd!
Cost: $18.00
- 4 p.m. Saturday, August 15 – Vintage for Power!
Vintage Format. Vintage Format - Winner takes home a card from the Power 9! 2nd Takes home a From the Vault: Exiled and 3rd and 4th take home From the Vault: Dragons! Additional prizes to Top 8. Swiss rounds with a cut to a Top 8 single elimination finals.
