D&D Encounters Starts Soon!

D&D Encounters: Beyond the Crystal Cave

First, a reminder that the next D&D Encounters season begins soon!

Beyond the Crystal Cave begins November 16th, starting with a prelude week—the first week of the season will open with players and DMs able to get together to discuss the season’s theme, make characters, and prepare for the start of the three-month story arc.

For a year, unnatural winds and mists have battered the area around the town of Crystalbrook. Worse, bizarre blue-skinned fey creatures have emerged from the fog to pillage and murder. Townsfolk blame these misfortunes on the fey of the nearby Sildaine Forest. The fey, who also suffer, claim innocence, faulting Crystalbrook’s people for hidden black magic that has attracted the wrath of primal spirits.

Store sanctioning runs until November 9th—so be sure to inquire before then if your store is participating.

Lair Assault: Talon of Umberlee

You may have survived D&D Lair Assault: Forge of the Dawn Titan… but if you did, you didn’t have an easy go of it. Now it’ll soon be time to gather your players once again—the tacticians, the rules experts, and the power gamers—and let them test their mettle against a gang of ruthless pirates and the evil servants of the sea goddess Umberlee!

As we’ve described our first assault:

If you think you have what it takes to brave the fiercest foes, fight the toughest battles, and conquer the vilest enemies, we have a new Dungeons & Dragons play experience for you! Gather your master tacticians and rules experts together to kick down the dungeon doors and begin the assault! D&D Lair Assault is a new Wizards Play Network in-store program that pits tactically-minded players against a super challenge where the difference between victory and defeat is dependent upon your game knowledge, ability to adapt, and a little bit of luck.

You'll pit your wits against some of the most difficult encounters you've ever played. Each challenge is a mega-encounter that plays in just a few hours, but many will need to make more than one run at it in pursuit of victory. D&D Lair Assault challenges are available for a few months, and stores can schedule their sessions at any time during that period.

The assault takes place from December 1, 2011 through February 28, 2012. Store sign-ups run until December 15.
