In a locked chest, in a secret vault, in the home of a suspected smuggler who died under mysterious circumstances, was found a dismembered hand. Upon the hand was a ring with never-before-seen properties. When the ring is triggered into action, a halo of six daggers appears in midair. The daggers are under the complete control of the ring's wearer, yet they obey very rigid restrictions in what they can and can't do. But that's the least of the enigma. The ring's maker remains a complete mystery, but whoever it may be, that person is still around, still keeping tabs on the ring, and using it for a purpose that no one can guess at.
The identities and aims of the Fael Threl are, as of this writing, unknown, and they seem to want this state of public unawareness to continue. Why the precise whereabouts of the rings can be traced, and what future purpose this rumored cabal of wizards might intend for wearers of those rings, are matters of much wild speculation.
