Walkthrough Map: Isle of Dread
Jason Thompson

The final playtest packet has been posted! Included within are a fair amount of adventures: Mines of Madness, Caves of Chaos, the Mud Sorcerer's Tomb… and of course, X1: The Isle of Dread. To help celebrate the final packet, we're pleased to offer the following "walkthrough" of the famed isle. Enjoy!

Isle of Dread

R umors of treasure and mystery have lured the characters across the ocean to an island known to its natives only as the Isle of Dread. The characters move inland in search of an ancient city built upon a plateau. Hidden within that site are the secrets of the natives' ancestors and untold wealth. Evil also awaits.

* Its the Isle of Dread!
* Cartoonized map and general cartoon!
* References to Ixion, suggesting a return to the roots of the Isle of Dread to its Mystara / Known World origins of the module.
* This is clearly not the Feywild version of the Isle of Dread. Feywild is cool, but doesnt need the Isle of Dread

* References to Kara-Tur, Mind Flayers and Aboleth which did not exist in the edition that the module was originally written for.

Add me to the list of people who really like these "parody" maps.

When I played this module many years ago, it ended up almost in the same way!
The only survivor warrior threw away his (magic) breastplate, and embraced the tribal life in Tanaroa!

In all seriousness, I would buy a book / magazine that had all of these classic (humorous cartoon) maps in them. Terrific stuff. But I was really hoping to a see a treatment of A2 (Slaver's Stockade) or the classic A4 (Dungeons of the Slave-lords)!
